Great Falls, MT — Today, Dr. Michael Eisenhauer announced the launch of a new political campaign with the unveiling of his campaign website, https://eisenhauerforcongress.com, and a commitment to delivering principled and results-driven representation for the people of Montana’s 2nd Congressional District.
Dr. Eisenhauer, a local Cardiologist from Great Falls, is running as an Independent Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives to bring practical solutions, accountability, and a renewed focus on the needs of working families and local communities. He emphasizes a focus on affordability issues and the need to protect rural healthcare.
“It is clear that our current two-party system in Congress is not working. For the first time in generations, Americans are worried about falling behind economically and that their children may not enjoy the American Dream of prosperity that has existed for the last 100 years or more”, Eisenhauer said.
He believes that “both the Democratic and Republican parties are responsible for this poor performance,” and that neither party makes any significant effort to work with each other as opposed to arguing and losing focus about what is really important. “But that is not healthy governance. And it’s not representative government. I’m running for Congress because our district deserves a representative that listens, works hard, and delivers real results – not partisan talking points – and is not beholden to party leaders from either side of the aisle.”
The largest hurdle for Eisenhauer to overcome will be a requirement that his campaign collect over 7,274 valid signatures via petition to gain ballot access. This is an unusually high hurdle; in comparison, the neighboring States of Idaho (500) and North Dakota (1000) require far fewer valid signatures for ballot access. “Once again, the 2025 Montana legislature made this even more difficult in a clear and intentional effort to preserve their own two-party duopoly, and to discourage independent or third-party candidates from engaging in the political process”, according to his introductory statement on his website.
“At this moment, more than anything else, we are gathering volunteers to help us get the required number of signatures on our petition for ballot access”, he added, encouraging those interested to visit his website.
