Mike is a principled man of service. He is an honorably-retired Army Colonel, after serving a nearly 25-year active-duty career as a physician and health care leader. He was awarded a Bronze Star following his overseas deployment to Baghdad in 2009 where he served as Deputy Forces Surgeon and Chief of Clinical Operations for MultiNational Forces-Iraq (MNF-I) and the Iraqi Theater of War. While Colonel Eisenhauer was not a direct combatant in Iraq (in accordance with the Geneva Conventions for medical personnel), he was a senior member of the Command and General Staff where he distinguished himself with his leadership and actions while addressing a wide array of medical issues facing our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and deployed Civilians. His overseas duties also included a year in South Korea, where he earned his Korean Defense Service Medal. He is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
As a practicing Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Eisenhauer has dedicated himself to providing the very best care for his patients through very long hours, nights and weekends. From his home base and while employed in Great Falls, he routinely traveled to outreach locations in Helena, Chester, Shelby, Browning and Havre to bring advanced cardiac care to those communities. He currently works part-time as a traveling cardiologist, in support of healthcare systems who require his advanced level of cardiac skills on an interim basis.

Throughout his military and subsequent civilian career in Medicine, Dr. Eisenhauer consistently lives by the core values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. He learned early on that it is not ok to simply complain or whine about something. Rather, to be taken seriously you need to be capable of speaking truth to power while maintaining mutual respect, and also demonstrate a willingness to offer alternatives or contributions to a team process that makes things better for everyone. These simple principles seem to be missing in today’s politics.
In 2020, Dr. Eisenhauer completed the Flagship course with Leadership Montana, the premier leaders’ development program that strengthens leadership skills while fostering personal growth and reflection. During the course, he traveled to 10 different locations within our State to meet with local leaders and groups to gain a deeper awareness of issues affecting Montana’s differing geographic regions and economic sectors.
Following retirement from the Army, Dr. Eisenhauer lived in Wyoming for a few years and then moved to Great Falls in 2015, where he currently resides. His son is a Structural and Mechanical Engineer in Great Falls.
